Indecisiveness was chosen at the title of this article as I am always looking at the site to see what I believe can be made better. Creating a website has much more artistic freedom than my day job of a Network Engineer. After being all button happy in the last round of changes to the site, they were taken away. The did look nice and did their job, but the menu functions add universality and a clean look to all pages on both PC’s and mobile devices. While all of the links are in the forum, there is now one tidy place to use them and simple to find.
Captcha has been converted to version 3 so instead of trying to find palm trees, motorcycles, bicycles, crosswalks and tractors Google helps us figure out that you are a human in some other magical way with out a need for you to do that any more. Many hate this things but after leaving it turned off for a few hours you would be surprised what the bots try to do.
Registrations have been changed and more information is collected at the time of registration and new users are no longer automatically approved. Now they are sent to an administrator for review and approval or rejection. I believe that this will help to protect our users and the integrity of the site.
While we are on the subject of new users, it is now required that you post within 14 days of membership approval as well as posting again within a year or the users account is automatically deleted. Harsh, perhaps some may think so, but this goes back to protect our users and the integrity of the site. This is the primary goal, people will be sharing their innermost being. When you feel vulnerable you do need to feel protected period.
Site finances and donations has been added. There are no adds here on this site to invade your other searches or to help pay for this. It is interdependently owned and if your are a member or become a member it is hoped that you will donate a little from time to time. In adding plugins to the site, one individual author said “If you like it, why not buy me a cup of coffee for my efforts?” I am going to go back and give him something, it is a nice way to ask.
So what is next? I don’t know really. One of the biggest challenges to date is learning how the SEO works. If you do not know what and SEO is that is a search engine optimizer. In other words ways to help Mr. Google find you and put you at the top of the list. The need is there to find more like minded people and this is how to do it, but is is a careful process. But we will see what is next as time goes on, half the fun will be the path to get there.
