My first day out in a dress|Public Access|Forum|We Wear Bras

I’ve been wearing skirts off and on for about 5 years now, and only occasionally get ‘side eye’.  But I’ve been wary about wearing dresses in public.

This year I found 2 great thrift store finds, a linen dress and a lightly lined silk dress.  The other day I was invited to a good friend’s house, and being a safe environment, decided to wear the silk dress.

On the way there, we had to stop for my daughter to do something, and down the street was a perfectly restored 1920s fire truck on display.  I decided “what the heck?” and walked over to the display.  Had a great talk with 2 retired firefighters who run our fire fighting museum.

After an hour at my friend’s house, i agreed to take her to a nearby store to buy some outdoor chair covers.  On the way there I got some gas and we realized we should buy some supper.  So we both did some shopping (horrors!!).  This was accidentally a kind of forced exposure, but it worked out just fine!  I live in a very conservative, some might say red-necked place, but not a peep.  So it looks more like my fears were a little overblown.  Here’s what I was wearing:

I’m not really trying to pass.  I still have my beard, but it was a freeing experience to wear what I want!
